Stage 6: from Malles to Imst
Tuesday 7th July 2015

I am the only guest of this little pension in Malles; the whole staff including the beautiful lady is at my disposal, wow..
Start riding at 8am, unusual, but today I’d like to handle things with calm; just outside the village, the bike path starts climbing with an average gradient 8% but there are many parts well over 15% which can’t be ridden on a bike with bags, I have to get off and push.
Everywhere I look, it’s awesome: I see high mountains, little rivers, water fountains, cows…it seems I’m riding into a Swiss postcard. Up to now, this is the most beautiful stage of this trip and the climb continues up the the lake of Resia, 1511mt above sea level. Temp is 25 deg C, I’m thinking of the hot air when crossing the big flat…it’s just a small thing of the past.
The descent goes thru Switzerland for few km before crossing the border with Austria, it’s about lunchtime when I find a place where a bunch of workers is eating and drinking, ha! I’m lucky: I stop immediately and take a table close to these guys which offer me a couple of beers that I drink with them and together a good sandwich with local speck.
The descent is quite long, I am a bit worried about the brakes, the pads are still the original and they are still working good; I am well over 900mt and the temp is again 39, that’s not possible…
Beers and hot temp have stoned me a bit, with the last energy available I arrive in Imst, find a small hotel, take a luxury shower and I am immediately down at the restaurant, where I can finally have my dinner; on the other side of a divisor glass a lady with the body of a statue is having dinner too, she looks at me I look at her, what is going to happen?
