This ride starts in Manhattan, New York and rolls over the Hudson river by way of the George Washington Bridge. We then make a sharp left to ride underneath the Bridge on the New Jersey side heading north along River road towards Piermont and Nyack. River Road follows the cliffs along the Hudson river with its steepest climb of to 230 metres. This ride has approximately ten Category 4 climbs. GCR likes this ride because it is close enough to do from NYC, but also challenging enough to get a great workout in. With a popular bike shop, bakery & coffee shop, Piermont is a perfect place to refuel and see other cyclists before turning around and heading back home.
Popular Strava segments include River Road Circle to Ranger Station, State line hill – 9W, Bradley Tweed East bound, Unnecessary Hill and Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Hermann – New YorkAfter growing up in Africa and Europe, Hermann has lived in NYC for over 15 years and has done a lot of riding in the NYC/NJ area, as well as other parts of the US. He doesn't class himself as a racer but he does consider himself a strong rider who is very excited to lead the NYC GCR rides and share all that he loves about NYC with the GCR riders from around the world. His work in the software world means a fair bit of travel but in his spare time he likes to learn more/read about cycling, travel & eat good food. He also considers himself a bit of an audiophile who loves to listen to high quality analogue or digital audio sources and tinker with the associated audio gear.
Greg – New YorkIn the morning, Greg is lycra clad and in the saddle. By night he plays trumpet in New York City’s vibrant music scene. Greg has enjoyed fast paced racing and slow paced, fully loaded touring. He enjoys working on his bikes, having built up 4 so far and meeting new people from around the world while sharing the two-wheeled dream. He likes to laugh and joke or hammer through flats and hills.
Vasi – New YorkVasi fell in love with cycling in his native Romania, where he was rarely seen without his fixie. But for the past 10 years, NYC has been his home and he has traded his fixie for a road bike. A bond trader by day and an avid follower of Formula 1 racing, Vasi always seeks the adrenaline of a fast paceline. He has been enthusiastically leading training rides and hammerfests for the past two years while learning the ins and outs of the most scenic and challenging routes that NYC has to offer. Whether you are looking to challenge yourself on a steeper hill or share a laugh while you discover NYC’s surroundings, Vasi will help you find your perfect NYC ride.
