Milan – Naviglio Pavese
50km - 115m / 31mi - 377ft - Weekend Rides - Saturday - Sunday - From March 2016
- Region EMEA
- Country Italy
- City Milan
We start in the quiet streets of Milan with little traffic, then go east to ride alongside the Naviglio Pavese canal.
The Naviglio Pavese is one of the canals making up the Navigli system in Lombardy. It is 33 km long and connects the city of Milan to Pavia, through a flight of six locks to the River Ticino. Construction started in 1564 and was completed in 1819.
The main points of attraction are surely the canal itself, the Lombardy countryside and the Certosa di Pavia. The Certosa di Pavia is a monastery complex in Lombardy, northern Italy, situated near a small town of the same name in the Province of Pavia, 8 km north of Pavia. Certosa is the Italian name for a house of the cloistered monastic order of Carthusians, founded by St. Bruno in 1044 at Grande Chartreuse.
At 16 km there is the segment Strava GCR Milan time trial that allows you to test your potential.

Mauro – MilanMauro is addicted to bikes & in his word 'loves bikes at 360°'. He is a member of a local team and loves doing Granfondos: Milano-Sanremo, Colnago Cycling Festival, Sella Ronda Bike day and Granfondo di Roma which is the most important. Last year he rode for about 12.000 Km and about 50.000 climbing and this year he wants to beat his record. Ask Mauro to tell you about some of the interesting climbs, he's done in the surrounds of Milan, such as the Madonna del Ghisallo (a famous climb of Giro di Lombardia) and some “funny” climbs in the Oltrepo Pavese. He's keen to share his cycling stories in the Navigli district, the heart of Milan's movida!
Marco – MilanMarco was born and bred in Milan and as a youngster his main sport was tennis. The only riding he did was on his trusty old mountain bike until he discovered the magic of road cycling in his twenties... and now he would never give up his bike!! He loves group cycling and particularly likes a long 4 or 5 hours ride climbing the hills past the vineyards. Last year he rode around 9000 km and more then 30.000 meters climbing, made Sellaronda Bike day (the most famous bike day in Italy, Pordoi Pass, Gardena Pass, Campolongo Pass and Sella Pass, 2300 meters climbing) and more other interesting itineraries around Italy. He loves to search for new places and exciting new roads to ride with friends.
