Frankfurt – 10 Peaks
95km - 1,551m / 59mi - 5,088ft - Weekend Rides - Saturday - Sunday - From April 2016
- Region EMEA
- Country Germany
- City Frankfurt
For the first 3 km/2 miles we will follow bicycle lanes to get us safely out of the city. Than we cycle on wide roads through the Frankfurt suburbs. After leaving the traffic behind us we enjoy riding through little towns to the foot of the mountain “Taunus”. After briefly passing Köppern we arrive at the bottom of our first peak up to a Military munition store, which is the biggest in West Europe. On top of the hill nearby the entrance of the depot there is a barrier. This will be our regrouping point after we have finished our first hill segment. The coming 40 km have almost no traffic with steep hills and some great descents. There are some tight corners which will require your full attention. We cross old and little towns on settlement land which goes back to 5.000 B.C. The nice views of the Taunus are only disturbed by the great flow of the descents. Going back on the same route to the munition depot we will regroup again on top at the barrier. Now 15 km of speedy pedalling down to Bad Vilbel brings us to the last peak of the day, the legendary Ironman Frankfurt “Heartbreak Hill”, ultimate chance to challenge yourself. A loose roll-out back to Frankfurt will end this long lasting memory of our trip.
Once we have left Frankfurt the traffic has died down a lot which will ease our journey and allow us to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view along the Taunus and Rhein Main area. This fantastic tour has everything the cyclist expects, great views, less traffic, challenging uphills and exciting downhills.

Scott – FrankfurtScott has been cycling since he was a boy, but it was when he joined a team in Washington. that he got interested in racing and long club rides. He enjoyed the racing scene for about 5 years and won a few races. He's ridden in a few fundraisers, in particular the Courage Classic that raises money for children in need. The ride involves 3 mountain passes in 3 days in Washington State. Now living in Frankfurt, Germany he has around 6,500 km of riding in Germany this year so far and hopes to reach 10,000km by the end of the year. He's in awe of all the greenery that Germany has to offer and is loving the variety and beauty of the rides.
Volker – FrankfurtBorn into a cycling family, Volker's father, brother, uncle and cousin were all passionate cyclists he started his race cycling career when I was only 5 years old. A committed Mountain Biker for many years he did guided charity rides, “Alpencross” and had numerous exciting MTB adventures, but he's been back on a road bike since 2012. Volker is fortunate to have “Skoda” as his sponsor & he has enjoyed a number of professional training sessions by Hans-Michael Holczer - the former team manager of “Katjuscha” and “Gerolsteiner”. As the founding member of the “Strava Frankfurt” club Volker has seen the clubs steady growth. He loves the team events, rides, KOM hunts & meeting new people with a passion for cycling.
