For busy travellers wanting to get a quick run out on the bike, we’ve pulled together a fabulous ride incorporating the Lake Front Trail. Spanning 18 miles (29km) along the coast of Lake Michigan, it’s one of the best ways to take in many of the city’s most popular sites: Navy Pier, the museum campus (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field) and Grant Park to name just a few.  Consisting of mostly flat terrain Chicago’s Lake Front Trail is a great means for riders of all levels to obtain base miles.  The local knowledge of GCR’s ride leaders will enhance your ride experience, by guiding you through this  ride. Ride Leaders

Ryan – Chicago

A Chicago resident of 25 years and a graduate of DePaul University (BS, College of Commerce), Ryan left the corporate world of media sales to pursue a passion for music and has worked as a DJ and occasional funky drummer ever since. After ditching the 9-5 he discovered a love of serious athletics and developed into a competitive marathon runner, triathlete, and cyclist. The bike quickly became his main focus and Ryan now works days at one of the city’s largest bike shops. He logged nearly 6,000 miles on the bike last year and is on pace to best that this year. Ryan knows the city and scene like few other cyclists and can’t wait to ride with you.

Drew – Chicago

Drew has been cycling since he moved back to Chicago in 2007. He is a founding member of Cut Cats Courier; arguably the largest (and raddest) rider owned & operated cycle courier service in the USA. As a result he is on the bike 300+ days per year. Between camping/touring, criteriums, group rides, CX races, & work he typically logs well over 10.000mi. annually. Working as a courier has allowed him to burrow his way into the Chicago coffee, music, beer, & restaurant industries; all of which are increasingly driven by guys and gals who are avid cyclists. This, paired with his intimate knowledge of Chicago’s streets allows him to paint an in-depth & eclectic portrait of his fair city!
